Part II — Breeds

398 breed monographs across 13 groups, spanning the internationally-recognised pedigree breeds and roughly 60 native and landrace breeds from every continent. Each monograph opens with the same at-a-glance table — so breeds stay comparable field-by-field, and the app can read the same fields programmatically — and then expands into what the breed is predisposed to, the screening schedule that follows from it (328 breeds now carry one), what a breeder must test before mating, and how to feed, exercise, groom, and keep the dog in its climate.

A note on what is and is not breed-specific here, because the distinction matters. The predispositions, the screening schedule, the breeder tests, the coat, the temperament, the origin, and the climate suitability come from this breed's own record. The feeding, exercise, and climate guidance is derived from the breed's size class, skull shape, and coat — written once and applied wherever it fits, because a Labrador's feeding needs are not meaningfully different from any other well-built 30 kg dog's, and pretending otherwise would be false precision dressed up as expertise.

Reading the climate & housing suitability field: it describes how well the breed copes with heat, humidity, cold, and typical urban housing — not how desirable the dog is. A breed marked poor is not a bad dog; it is a dog that will suffer in the wrong climate without serious environmental management.

357 of the 398 monographs carry a photograph, each sourced from Wikimedia Commons under a free licence and credited to its photographer beneath the image, as those licences require. The remaining breeds — mostly rare landraces such as the Toda Dog and the Santal Hound — have no correctly-licensed photograph available, and are left unillustrated rather than given a picture of the wrong dog.
